Ph.D.'s new crop circle book deals crippling blow to hoax explanation

Eltjo Haselhoff, a Dutch Ph.D., former Los Alamos National Laboratories employee and veteran crop circle scientist, has finally published his long awaited scientific overview of the crop circle phenomenon.

"The Deepening Complexity of Crop Circles: Scientific Research & Urban Legends" is a well-wrought summary of the scientific evidence supporting a non-trivial cause for crop formations appearing worldwide in fields of plants, snow, ice, sand and other media.

In his 157-page, full color book Eltjo skillfully addresses the most compelling anomalies that define this evolving mystery, including:

  • The formations' tendency to appear suddenly, in time spans as short as 30 minutes
  • The presence of unexpected geometric laws and proofs in some formations
  • The presence of "stunned" or exploded insects, unusual glass "microspheres" and other unexpected deposits in affected grains
  • The laboratory-confirmed presence of germination and node length anomalies in formations, which far exceed normal variation in control samples
  • The peer reviewed finding that node swelling in affected crop confides to electromagnetic theory in a nearly perfect linear fashion, clearly suggesting an EM point-source as the cause of at least some formations
  • The inextricable connection between crop circles and oft-reported and filmed "balls of light"

Haselfhoff writes in a succinct, scientific, but friendly manner. His discussion briefly touches upon other aspects of the crop circle phenomenon: the unscientific treatment and tactics of vocal critics, and possible "psychic" connections, but dwells on neither, choosing instead to focus on the laboratory findings of the Burke, Levengood and Talbott (BLT) research team.

"The Deepening Complexity of Crop Circles" is a nice-looking book, rife with photos of the most impressive designs, but its true beauty is found in the text, which demonstrates in no-nonsense fashion that the hoax explanation for all formations is untenable.

Eltjo Haselhoff's literary effort was well worth the wait, and I heartily recommend it to all who wish to understand this phenomenon in a scientific light.

Haselhoff's book is available from Frog, Ltd. and can be purchased in some bookstores and on Amazon.com.
